As a surgeon-scientist, I have spent the last twenty years practicing clinically in the field of laryngology, while leading research on novel treatment options for laryngeal muscle paralysis.   Since 2009, I have served as Principal Investigator on grants totally over $20 Million in funding from NIH and other sources.   Our work through the years has resulted in my authorship on over 85 peer-reviewed publications.  I currently serve as Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, Indiana.  My team works extensively with a wide range of collaborators from Indiana University-Bloomington, Purdue University, and Washington University.   

Prior to my current position, I started my own business, The Voice Clinic of Indiana, a clinical practice focused on the treatment of voice disorders.  Within 7 years, the practice was delivering over $3.5 Million in annual revenue.  In 2020, I sold the practice to Indiana University (IU) Health, and the practice became the  IU Health Voice Center - designated Center of Excellence within IU Health.    On the research side, I paired up with Patrick Finnegan, a highly experienced scientist from Eli Lilly to help advance our science into clinical treatment options.  I now am thrilled to be in a position to translate our research into therapeutic breakthroughs for patients, bringing Vibrant LLC therapies from bench to bedside.
